STANDARD RETAINER AGREEMENT
FOR TREATMENT / PSYCHOSOCIAL ASSESSMENTS

[Date]

This is an agreement of understanding between Abe Kass and [James Brown] (the Client) for the research, preparation and writing of a professional report with the intent to be used as a legal document and includes all other efforts required to explain and defend the report if required to do so. Additional details are discussed bellow.

Key Points:

• Report writing is charged at a rate of $150.00 for each of the first four pages and $120.00 for each page thereafter.

• Interview time and other report writing efforts are charged at the rate of $2.80 per minute (excluding court appearances and a few other exceptions, see "Details" for more information).

• A credit card number with at least $5,000 credit available is required. This report writing service may cost more or less than $5,000., however this amount is needed so payments can be made without delay (see "Details" for more information on payment schedules).

• The opinions expressed in "the report" are based on Abe's independent assessments and conclusions. Abe's work is not advocacy. Legitimacy to what he produces is assured only when his work is independent from all parties including you (the client) and your lawyer(s). Signing this document acknowledges your agreement with Abe's independent authority in making final conclusions and recommendations. Abe values your suggestions and assistance and those of other parties and stakeholders, but in the end if there is a disagreement about something his judgment will prevail.

• The more available you are for interviews; the more thorough you are in providing requested information; the more cooperative you are in granting permission and facilitating the interviewing of significant individuals; the more complete, trustworthy, and convincing will be the final report.

• The nature of the service between Abe Kass and the Client is for evaluative purposes and not for therapeutic purposes.

• If you would like a copy of the final report, it will be provided as a PDF file at the discretion of your lawyer. Abe Kass works collaboratively with your lawyer and does not want to do anything that may unintentionally interfere with his or her efforts such as the releasing of a report at the wrong time or to the wrong person.

• One appointment before submitting the report to check for factual errors (not to change opinions).

Please note: A forensic social worker's view is primarily that of a person's motivation and circumstances; unlike a lawyer's view which is primarily on the legal details and proceedings.

Travel and Out of Town rates:

Client agrees to pay for time, flights, overnight accommodations and possible additional charges that are required in connection with the report and testifying. These charges are at Abe’s discretion unless they have been agreed upon in writing prior to the begging of the work.

Out of Town rates start accruing from when Abe leaves his Thornhill office and continue until his return.

For more details regarding Out of Town Rates, speak to Abe.
