Anger and relationships

When I was growing-up there were great amounts of anger in my home. Family relationships were fractured and polarized. I never realized how much everyone suffered until years later. My siblings are all that is left of my family of origin, and we have virtually no connection with each other. It has taken me years to understand the reason, but it is really very simple. When children grow up in anger generated fear, survival dictates that they emotionally distance themselves from the source. In my case, from my family and its members. Each one of us did the same. The lasting result, fifty years later we are still  "distant" from one another.
